Synopsis:
A strange plane crash is the starting point in which the FBI agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) seek the help of the scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble), who has been locked in a psychiatric institution for 17 years. The only way out is that a close relative ordered and this will be his son Peter (Joshua Jackson), who did not have any relationship with his father. Together they begin investigating a series of strange events occurring around the world known as the standard.

Characters:
- (Anna Torv) as Olivia Dunham, an FBI agent assigned to investigate the spread of unexplained phenomena. Also Torv plays Olivia's counterpart in the parallel universe, called by the characters in the early universe as "False Olivia."

- (Joshua Jackson) and Peter Bishop: civilian advisor to the FBI which is integrated to work with his father, Walter. Peter is actually the son of "Walternativo" parallel universe, kidnapped by Walter shortly after death of his own at an early age Peter.
- (John Noble) and Dr. Walter Bishop, a former government researcher in the field of alternative science was seen as a mad scientist and institutionalized after a lab accident which killed his assistant. Walter Noble acts as a parallel universe called "Walternativo" by the characters in the early universe. Walternativo came to power as the Secretary of Defense and initiated the war against the early universe after the kidnapping of his son Peter.
- (Lance Reddick) as Phillip Broyles, a Homeland Security agent, who heads the Division of Fringe. Reddick also performs the role of Broyles in the universe parallel, which sympathizes with Olivia and sacrifices during the season 3 escape allowing parallel universe.
- (Jasika Nicole) as Astrid Farnsworth: Junior FBI agent and assistant to Olivia and Walter. Nicole plays Astrid also in the parallel universe, which has symptoms similar to Asperger Syndrome in honor of Nicole's sister, who has the disorder.
- (Blair Brown) as Nina Sharp, Chief Operating Officer for Massive Dynamic, the leader in scientific and technological research.
